Congratulations to Dorothy Cannon for winning the Arkansas FSA Woman of the Year Award.

The Woman of the Year Award program was developed in Arkansas in 1990 by USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA), Natural Resources Conservation Service and Rural Development to recognize the accomplishments of USDA female employees during Women’s History Month.

Barbara Pettigrew, acting CED in Phillips County, Arkansas, presented Cannon the award during the annual luncheon. “I am so honored and humbled to receive this most prestigious award,” said Cannon.

Cannon, a program technician, was recognized for her extra ordinary outreach efforts in assisting a great number of USDA recipients in acquiring agency services as well as making significant contributions in her local community.

“She assists with field visits and handles her own program duties while also handling the added responsibilities of acting county executive director,” said Pettigrew.  “She handles her duties without complaint. Her soft-spoken demeanor and her willingness-to-work attitude make her a pleasure to be around.”

Cannon has worked for FSA for 26 years in Phillip County in various positions.  She is the 22nd recipient of this award.
