New Program Helps Retired Producers Transition Land to Beginning Farmers

USDA released a new program today encouraging retired or retiring farm owners currently in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) to transition their land to beginning or socially disadvantaged farmers or ranchers. The Transition Incentives Program will provide an annual rental payment to retiring farmers for up to two additional years after the expiration of the CRP contract, if the land is not transitioned to a family member. Producers can sign up for the program beginning Monday, May 17. Learn more.
