USDA Issues 10,000th Grain License to Wisconsin Company

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that it has issued its 10,000th grain license under the United States Warehouse Act. The USWA was enacted in 1916, giving the Agriculture Secretary authority to license any warehouse operator engaged in storing agricultural products meant for interstate or foreign commerce. The law was later updated by President Bill Clinton to revitalize and streamline the federal warehouse system. DeBruce Grain Elevator in Avalon, Wis., received the landmark license. “The federal warehouse licensing program administered under the United States Warehouse Act has been an integral part of the agricultural landscape for nearly 100 years. I’m pleased to commend all USWA-licensed warehouse operators by honoring USWA grain license number 10,000.” Learn more.
