Most FSA Offices Along the East Coast Remain Open, Operational After Sandy

Several Farm Service Agency county offices in areas where Superstorm Sandy hit have resumed operation while others remain closed as recovery efforts continue. All state offices are open and operational.

Connecticut: All five service centers are open.

Delaware: All offices are open and operational.

Maryland: The Garrett County Service Center is closed due to excessive snow. Maryland has 21 county offices and although the state office and the Wicomico County office received water damage, they are open and operational.

New Jersey: All county offices are closed due to power outages and flooding except for Vineland and Salem counties.

New York:  All service centers are open and operational.

Pennsylvania: All offices are open and operational.

Virginia: All 41 service centers are open and operational.

Rhode Island: The service center is open and operational. Rhode Island has one office that serves all five counties.

Producers may contact their local FSA service center for information on the Emergency Conservation Program (ECP). The program is designed to help producers repair farmland destroyed by a natural disaster. The county must receive a major disaster declaration pursuant to the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act to be eligible. To date, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut received this declaration after the Federal Emergency Management Administration named these them a major disaster area.
